Trump’s Accounts Just Made a Big Move in the Bitcoin Market

According to the official disclosure, the president’s investment accounts have bought between $50,001 and $100,000 of Strategy (MSTR) common stock on July 27, 2026. It comes after a comparatively small purchase of $1,001 to $15,000 of Strategy shares on July 24, 2026. Besides Strategy, the president’s accounts bought Coinbase common stock while selling off bitcoin-linked MARA Holdings and CleanSpark, Inc. on the same month.

Strategy’s shares are more volatile than Bitcoin itself as Strategy uses leverage to buy products. As such, the parent company’s shares could rise substantially higher than the bitcoin price in the short term. The cryptocurrency and blockchain industry welcomed a wave of new regulations that were implemented in early 2025.

The White House claims that President Trump’s portfolio is “independently managed” by third-party financial institutions

As of the time of writing, the shares of Strategy were at $163.35, representing a considerable profit from the purchases made on July 24 and 27, 2026.

Since the start of 2026, there has been a debate in the U.S. Senate about imposing additional regulations on cryptocurrencies and digital assets. While the purchases made in Trump’s name conform to the rules in place, the timing of the moves raises the question of the need for greater transparency.
